All Or Nothing
We live in a time of grievance when nothing is good enough (because if someone can imagine an injustice then the injustice is real), and when, as a result, the value of a partial victory gets very little cred.
Everything is all or nothing with most of us and certainly with those who are your worst constituents.
For them a message of "here's some evidence we are making progress" won't matter, but I urge you to marshal it anyway because, in a time of all or nothing, it is easy to let those using all-or-nothing rhetoric and all-or-nothing tactics as fill your radar screen—and fill it “all”—just because they are obviously not nothing.
This is another way of saying that you have to play the game according to your rules, not those around you to play it.
And, of course, lead as you.
